To summarize existing candidates for clinical radioprotectors, we conducted a literature review using a Pubmed/MEDLINE search with key phrases including: antioxidants in medical imaging, antioxidants in radiotherapy, antioxidant radiation, radioprotective agents, radioprotective radiotherapy, radioprotective medical imaging, and radioprotection. To be included, the articles were required to be peer-reviewed primary research articles published in the past 10 years that investigated one or more substances as potential radioprotective agents
