Animals; Government Translation of inscription: JoyBlack and white group portrait of 29 armed men in the yard of Fort Herchmer behind the Commissioners Residence looking east. This group does not appear to be the Yukon Field Force, the Boyle Infantry or the George Black Infantry, they may possibly be a Home front volunteer group for Dawson. Charles Edward Whalley is identified as the second from the officer. Inscription verso: Vernon's father standing second from the officer.
